Sam Harris Commentary on Palin and American Voters

Sam Harris articulates so clearly, exactly what I think is wrong with the choice of Palin. It demonstrates that many Americans don't take the issues that we are facing seriously. It doesn't matter if he is an athiest, a liberal, or whatever. He speaks the truth.

"I believe that with the nomination of Sarah Palin for the vice presidency, the silliness of our politics has finally put our nation at risk. The world is growing more complex—and dangerous—with each passing hour, and our position within it growing more precarious. Should she become president, Palin seems capable of enacting policies so detached from the common interests of humanity, and from empirical reality, as to unite the entire world against us. When asked why she is qualified to shoulder more responsibility than any person has held in human history, Palin cites her refusal to hesitate. "You can't blink," she told Gibson repeatedly, as though this were a primordial truth of wise governance. Let us hope that a President Palin would blink, again and again, while more thoughtful people decide the fate of civilization."

Biden's reason is that he's been a politician since the 70's...so he might know something about how to do the job even though nobody ever wanted him for it. Obama's credentials is that he gave a speech once.

Better to put a person in for president known to associate with many anti-American people and who won't wear an American flag lapel pin, or cross-his-heart for the Pledge of Allegiance, not to mention the 57 states gaffe, who then goes on to pick for VP the gaffe-master himself who isn't clear on American history many times over.

Yeah, that sounds like a plan... NOT!

Has anyone asked why none of the other candidates over the past 2 years has worn an American flag pin? What kind of a nut job thinks that is so important, but McCain's outright lying/blatent changing of positions and Palin's retardedness on international issues is ok? Just last week McCain said the ecomomy is fundamentally strong and today he said if a bailout plan is not approved this weekend, we could be in a depression by Monday? Does he even know what he is talking about? Get real.
