Government Classifies Golf Course Ponds As Wetlands

In order to make it appear that they are doing something about the erosion of wetlands. They make artificial bodies of water that have little bearing on the environment and are excited about it.

Actually, my parents live on a golf course, and the water features support a huge range of wildlife, that would otherwise die out. From Coyote to Osprey. Small song birds, ducks, migrating butterflies and more all benefit from the water "hazards", and the landscaping.

Most any body of water can provide sustanance to wildlife. Wetlands have multiple environmental uses including protecting shorline, flood protection, providing sustanance to wildlife, and water quality protection. I think that including structures such as golf course ponds into the equation is misleading. If the government is telling us all that so much progress is being made in securing wetlands based on these statistics, there is the possibility that less attention will be paid to the real issue, less funding available to secure/protect wetlands in the traidtional sense...because after all...it's not such a big problem anymore, is it?
